Iiria Sauri

Born in Finland , she was a child of an literary and artistic family (mother: Outi Pennanen, journalist and painter, grand aunt: Eila Pennanen  famous finnish writer (Eila Pennanen – Wikipedia)    ,Jarno  Pennanen; poet and writer, ,Ain-Elisabeth Pennanen,writer..). very early Iiria Sauri showed her desire to be creative and  to express. The first appearance in the Finnish Radio was at age of 6 years . As a child she played   in several radio and tv dramas. The music enters to her life in a softly manner with piano lessons at age of 9, but became very serious  with the discovery of clarinet and so she finnished her studies in Sibelius Lyseum  in Helsinki. The college years were rich in many ways; Iiria lstudies the clarinet with Sven Lavela and made the first experiences    in  symphonic orchestra with the conductor Petri Sakari. Music became Iiria’s vocation and she is admitted to Sibelius Academy (Sibelius-Akatemia - Etusivu) in 1988, to study with Kari Kriikku (Kari Kriikku - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). With  several master classes : Karl Leister, (Karl Leister - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) Claude Faucomprez and John Mc Caw  comes  the fascination for “central european” clarinet virtuosity and the central Europe attracted her with force. But the competition and lack of fellowship between the musicians worries and disturb the young musician. Then comes the encounter with the Finnish Orfeo group, and it is explosive. First the Orfeo group playes under conducting of Andreas Peer-Kähler in  Dornach (Switzerland). They played The 6th symphony of Jean Sibelius  and Gustav Mahler’s Kinder TotenLieder in the massif house of  Goetheanum (http://www.goetheanum.org) Then ,In 1989 ,the Orfeo group     (There is not 'passaggio': Finnish Bass-Baritone Juha Uusitalo musical extreme talks tone Bill Kenny training, personal singing and his philosophy. (BK))  went to Croatia (the ex. - Yugoslavia) to train  the sound, the ground of the sound and the philosophy of  musical thought.

After two months of training under the adriatic sun the Finnish group breaks away and Iiria Sauri decides to go to France and she is admitted to study the clarinet with Christian Peignier, in the conservatory of Besançon. The cultural shock is huge between finnish and french way of music making. She obtains the gold medal in 1993, but the chamber music is the closest to her wich brings the success in the international Chamber Music competition in Illzach ( France ) with the Paul Arma clarinet quartett . . Iiria is a very active chamber musician : reed quartett,  duos.. She needs the other one  to create, and to interpret. The pure performance and virtuosity freezes the music. Without emotion the art does not exist. With the French state diploma she teaches the clarinet and conducts in the east of France (Franche-Comté). In 1998, the experience with Hausacher Kammer -Orkester in Germany is really strong. Playing The concertino of C. M. von Weber she is amazed  by the warm of the german public .With  Thomas Friedli’s humanity as a clarinet teacher and his advices ( Geneve, Switzerland) the doubts are gone and she’s again very productive chamber musician : the french-finnish-belgium Hisis-trio, the Nelia reed quartett, the Triazzo reedtrio. With the Compagnie du Colibri (Besançon, France ) she plays musical theater for children ( Grenier du Temps perdu 2006, Les soeurs Tara), and in that period she gives birth to two boys: Jalmar and Aksel . Iiria Sauri goes west ( of France!!)..as a french civil servant, working in the music schools of Quimperlé and Lannion (Britanny, France ) and playing chamber music. The love and the pride for the  finnish music  is central  in her life. In  Salon Musicora 2003 Paris ( France) she conducts 'Harri Wessmann’s Kälviä  (Finland), World premiere in France. In 2005 she obtains in Academy Sibelius ( Helsinki, Finland) the Master in performing Arts, clarinet. In 2006, the encounter with Narcis Llongueres (Catalonia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) the Catalan oboist is a real electroshock. They form a very sensitive and artistic duo. She plays also in  HBBCE (Helsinki-Breihz-Barcelona Creative Ensemble).
